Two systems
Guildford Borough Council publishes parking information and runs off-street car parks. The same page states that Surrey County Council is responsible for on-street parking enforcement. If you need a suspension so a van can stop on yellow lines or in a permit bay, you are in the county’s process. Start early. It is not something a driver can arrange from the cab.
House removals go more smoothly when that permission, if it is needed, is already in place.
Streets that usually need a conversation
The town centre, Ripley High Street, Godalming’s centre and any road with residents’ bays. A house with an empty drive in Merrow or East Horsley often needs no suspension at all. Tell us which you have. A photo of the kerb is better than a postcode.
Woodbridge Road, where we are based, is wider than the lanes, and it is still busier when Guildford Cricket Club has a match at the sports ground. Mention a Saturday in summer.
What to ask before you pay for a bay
How long the crew expects to be outside, whether the vehicle fits the bay you have in mind, and whether the suspension covers the date if completion slips by a day. A bay booked for the wrong morning is money spent on an empty kerb.
Blocks of flats sometimes have a loading bay that the managing agent books. Use that route if it exists. Do not block a disabled bay or a bus stop because the map looked quiet at 9pm.
If there is genuinely nowhere
Say so. A longer carry from a legal space can be quoted. An illegal stop cannot. We would rather plan the walk than collect a ticket in your road.
