The hill is not a detail
Guildford’s High Street rises from the river towards North Street. Quarry Street, Castle Street and the lanes off them add steps, cobbles and turns. A flat that looks close to our base at 6 Woodbridge Rd can take longer to load than a house two miles away in Stoughton, because the van cannot sit outside and the stair turns.
Read the town centre area page for the local contacts. This note is about the moving day itself.
Flats above shops
Ask the landlord or the managing agent what they allow. Some want mats, a time window, or the goods route rather than the customer door. Photograph the stair and the tightest turn. If a sofa came in through a window years ago, say so before we quote flat removals.
Shared landings must stay clear. Neighbours still need to get to work while you move.
Where the van goes
On-street enforcement is Surrey County Council. The borough runs the car parks, and its parking page says so. A suspension or a bay, if you need one, is a before-the-day job. Cricket at the Woodbridge Road ground can also change traffic near our base. Mention the date.
Offices in the same streets
Plenty of centre “moves” are a small office above a shop. That is an office removal: desks, files, a person who can open the door. Do not describe it as a flat and then add six pedestals on the morning.
